Spotted Redshank

In fact this one is a Common Redshank. The bright red legs and red base to the bill rule out anything apart from a redshank. The brown upperparts and streaked/spotted head and neck fit Common. (Most Spotted Redshank are now also developing breeding plumage, so look black or at least with some blackish feathers)

Thanks, John. From your description, the below taken in last Nov is actually a Spotted Redshank instead of Common Redshank because of the head pattern? I thought it is a Common Redshank simply based on the upper part of bill is black while the lower part is red (though I am not that certain now after relook at it as it seems it is actually dirty red...). Am I right?
