基圍#8b生境改善工程

為了恢復蘆葦叢原有的生態價值，本年夏季基圍 #8b西面部份將進行生境改善工程。改善工程將會為部份內河道清淤，及降低部份被陸生植物入侵的蘆葦叢地面，從而復修為質素較佳的濕蘆葦叢，以供鳥類棲息。

To enhance the ecological value of Mai Po’s reedbed, habitat enhancement work will be conduct this summer in Gei wai #8b. The work will involve desilting channels, the reedbed floor and removing invasive terrestrial plants. Wet reedbed will be restored to provide habitat for reedbed-dependent birds and invertebrates.

為了恢復蘆葦叢原有的生態價值，本年夏季基圍 #14部份將進行生境改善工程。改善工程將會為部份內河道清淤，及降低部份被陸生植物入侵的蘆葦叢地面，從而復修為質素較佳的濕蘆葦叢，以供鳥類棲息。

To enhance the ecological value of Mai Po’s reedbed, habitat enhancement work will be conducted this summer in Gei wai #14. The work will involve desilting channels, the reedbed floor and removing invasive terrestrial plants. Wet reedbed will be restored to provide habitat for reedbed-dependent birds and invertebrates.

#16a淡水塘生境改善工程        
Habitat Enhancement Work at Pond #16a

#16a淡水塘因被雜草及攀緣植物入侵，生態價值逐漸衰退。今年夏季，#16a淡水塘將進行改善工程。屆時塘內的植被將被清除，並重新移植水生植物，作為兩棲類、蜻蜓及鳥類的棲息地。

Pond #16a is now invaded by terrestrial grasses and climbers. As a result, the ecological value has declined. To restore its ecological value, terrestrial vegetation will be removed and the pond floor desilted. Aquatic plants will then be transplanted. The new habitat will provide a refuge for amphibians, dragonflies and birds.

本年夏季基圍 #22將進行生境改善工程。改善工程將會清除部份入侵開闊水面的蘆葦叢，為河道清淤，以回復河道的深度供魚蝦棲身。亦會修建兩個小島，讓水鳥棲息。

Habitat enhancement work at Gei wai #22 will be conducted this summer. The work will involve removing invasive vegetation to restore former areas of open water, and channel desilting to maintain the deepness of the channel for aquatic fauna. In addition, two islands will be restored for waterbirds to roost.
