I like the way the plumage details were shown in your shot. I personally feel that cormorants are pretty ugly; their eyes are espeically small and the yellow mask on their faces makes that feeling even worse... but the pattern and luster on their dorsal plumage are really gorgeous. The contrastive tone in your shot is one of the factors that enhances that pattern and luster to be so easily discernable.
Last but not the least, the intriguing looking back also makes the shot artistic from the point of viewing.
