This picture taken at Deep Bay yesterday, I cannot identify the brown bird.

I think this depends on which 'brown bird' you mean!
The 3 larger birds at the back are Eurasian Curlews.
The smaller birds in front are all bar-tailed godwits: note the long, slightly upcurved bill. The red birds are in breeding plumage, the browner birds are still in non-breeding plumage.
