I saw this bird at Ho Chung at about 3pm this afternoon in dreadful light - straight into the sun. It didn't call, never got within 20m and disappeared quickly. I thought from this it might be a Bluethroat. Views appreciated.

Definitely Bluethroat, first winter female I think.

The first time I can recall hearing of one seen away from the NW NT in all the time I've been in HK (nearly 20 yrs), though the Avifauna reports it as occasionally seen in the eastern NT, including at Ho Chung. I wonder if that was when there was more wet agriculture in such areas though.
