Japan: First chick of released Crested Ibis in the wild
日本環境省22日確認，在新潟縣佐渡市放飛並已築巢孵卵的一對朱鹮孵出了雛鳥。朱鹮是日本的“特別天然紀念物”。1976年後日本就未曾有野生朱鹮誕生，而放歸野外的朱鹮孵出雛鳥在全國尚屬首次。如果順利長大的話，雛鳥將在約40天后離巢飛翔。

Japan's Environment Ministry said Sunday a chick has been hatched from an egg produced by a pair of crested ibises released into the wild on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture, the first such birth in the nation since 1976.
