Munia the watch guard

Munia the watch guard

A flock of scaly-breasted munia were having a feast on a paddy field at Long Valley on January 31st.  At this moment they hovered at the crown of the straw busy pecking at the ears of the grain.  At the next moment they landed on the ground picking up the seeds.  Only this particular munia stayed on the top of a stalk at all time.  He takes up a watch guard post for the colony.
