Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker - nest

Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker - nest

An adult feeding a chick at nest. The light condition was poor this monring. Tai Po Road near Tai Po Kau. 30 April 2007.

Swarovski HD 80 (telescope) + Canon A95

Interestingly, my half hour observations on two days revealed that only male was seen to feed the young bird. Where is the female? Are just males responsible for feeding the young and females do nothing after egg-laying?

interesting photo,
never seen this type of nest before.
How they build it? It looks like the type of Baya Weaver.
