[Oversea] Sulawesi, Indonesia 印尼蘇拉威西

Sulawesi, Indonesia 印尼蘇拉威西

A short visit to Sulawesi looking for endemic birds was made in this September.  Given only a relatively short period of holidays, we could only visit the most accessible area of Lore Lindu National Park, where is home of most of Sulawesi's endemic species.  Excluding extensive traveling time required, we finally had 5 days left in the montane forest for bird photography.  Compared with the number of endemic birds recorded in any other birding trip reports, our records are definitely pretty low.  However, we are happy to safely and satisfactorily finish such an exploratory birding tour to one of the most amazing birding areas in Indonesia.

Cerulean Cuckoo-shrike (endemic)

Chestnut Munia

Citrine Flycatcher

Collared Kingfisher

Fiery-Browed Starling (endemic)

Island Verditer Flycatcher

Ivory-backed Wood-swallow (endemic)

Dark-eared (Lesser Sulawesi) Honeyeater (endemic)

Mangrove Blue Flycatcher

Mountain White-eye

Oliver-backed Sunbird

Purple-bearded Bee-eater (endemic)

Pied Chat

Rainbow Bee-eater

Superb Fruit Dove

White-rumped Cuckoo-shrike (endemic)

White-bellied Imperial Pigeon (endemic)

Sulawesi photos

Hi Felix,

Nice photos of some great birds.  I especially liked the Purple-bearded Bee-eater with the dragonfly !

It is hard to get to some sites in Sulawesi, but always worth the effort.
