Cape D'Aguilar |
|
Cape D'Aguilar is the site of Hong Kong's only Marine Reserve. During typhoons, it is the focus of attention for Hong Kong birders as the territory's prime seawatching site. A spot close to the Swire Institute of Marine Science is used as a viewpoint to search for various terns, frigatebirds, shearwaters and petrels. The potential for seawatching has only become apparent in the last two to three years, and in that time several new species have been added to the Hong Kong list at "Cape D'Ag".
There is a Hong Kong Telecom minibus which travels to the headland fromWanchai several times a day at regular intervals. It is also possible to take a bus to Shek O road and walk to the end of the headland, but this takes 30 minutes. The best method is to take a taxi from Shau Kei Wan MTR Station. This will cost about HK$70.
