The bird had a black-tipped beak and the gape line extended only below the eye. Also the neck is elegantly curved and the bill was not long enough for a Great egret. Besides, was the egret photoed at the spot on the left of the path just beyond the pond under the weaver nests? The one I got there was fearless of human, and gave close range views.
