Scaly-breasted Munia 斑文鳥

Hi all! I saw a group of small birds in Shing Mun Reservoir on 1 Jan 2003 (So sorry the quality of the picture is poor!). They were brown in colour with grey legs. I guess they may be flycatcher or sparrow. Can anyone tell me what are they? Thx! http://lally_ng.tripod.com/01010010.JPG

They are not flycatcher or sparrow to me, I think they are spotted munia.

Thanks a lot PK! I believe you are right. Those I saw are infant birds and as the book said, they don't fear people and are in group.

the first picture shows a juvenile bird and the second one an adult.. This is a very good time of year to see Spotted Munia in areas with seeding grass. Good sites include Long Valley and Lam Tsuen Valley. Mike
