Its overall size was about 18-24 cm, and was drab wader-brown on the upperparts, white on the under. There were no distinctive features except that the nape region was dappled with black, and around the eyes was a white region (spectacle). The bill is all dark and slightly decurved at the tip. Legs were quite short, and was always probing the soil.
