Flycatching Tree Sparrows and Crested Mynahs

I watched a pair of Tree Sparrows, a Crested Mynah and two Magpie Robins along with Barn Swallows and a fair few bats picking flying termites this evening in Lam Tsuen Valley.  Is it common for Tree Sparrows / Crested Mynah to do this or is it a trick they exploit whenever such a rich food source appears?  The Mynah looked very awkward flying high and stalling as it grabbed a termite.  The sparrows were fairly deliberate and waited for something to come close.
