On the past 3 mornings I have seen and heard 2 Hwaimeis in the brush below the HK Institute of Education near Tai Po. I have no idea whether they are regularly seen in this area, but they were a surprise to me. What a beautiful song! I have been birdwatching around the Institute campus ever since I arrived in January, and have seen an amazing number of different birds. The other recent highlight was 2 red-winged Crested Cuckoos, which I saw last week just after the big rains. I could post a more comprehensive report if anyone is interested. Cheers, Koren
