It looks like a young bird. Normally, night active bird like owl would prefer to find somewhere in the shade or somewhere to hide at mid-day on a bright sunny day, as it's their instinct. It would be unusual to see a young bird perching in the open like this by itself. I hope nobody put it there for the purpose of taking pictures. Any injured or orphaned wild birds, especially Owls or Raptors should be reported to Wild Animal Rescue Centre of Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden (KFBG) ¹Å¹D²z¹A³õº[´Óª«¶é. General Line.: 2488-1317

I have exchanged emails with the photographer. He was taking portraits at NSW when he found the owlet. The bird remained at the post throughout. Worried that it might attack him, the photographer dared not touch it. He didn't know what happened to it afterwards. ©M¨ºÄá¼v®v¥æ´«¤F¹q¶l¡A¥L»¡·í®É¥¿¦b«n¥Í³ò©ç¤H¹³¡A¦Ó¨ºï¢ö¿©l²×³£¯d¦b°±´Ïªº ¤ì±ø¤W¡A¨S¦³¸¨«¡CÄá¼v®v©È³¾·|ŧÀ»¤H¡A©Ò¥H¤£´±½í¨e¡A¤]¤£ª¾¹D¨e«á¨Ó«ç»ò¼Ë ¡C

| Thanks +1, Webcreeper ! I hope the owl is fine too! Owls are predators, but they can fall prey to raptors. A few year ago, a bird watchers saw an Asian Barred Owlet in the claws of a Crested Goshawk at Tai Po Kau.
