Mai Po Nature Reserve on 1st and 2nd June 六月一、二日米埔

Despite the rain it was still worth visiting Mai Po last week as the the tides birds came into roost earlier. Not as many around as the week before but still 200 - 300. The Swinhoe's was still hanging around but was hassled by Little Egrets and Black-winged Stilts. Six Cattle Egrets flew in to 16/17 late on Thursday afternoon. It looks like several of the Stilts have had to rebuild their nests higher due to the rain and in a couple of instances actually moved them. They also spend a lot of time chasing off the waders coming in to roost on the islands. I caught a glimpse of the Jacana in front of Hide 9 which was nice.
