Please find below announcement of the event. Members who are interested to take part in the even, please contact kklimsg@singnet.com.sg.   ========================================   The 20th Singapore Bird Race   11-12 October 2003   Can you believe it? We are into our 20th year of this race! The ever-increasing support and participation from members through the years has ensured that the Singapore Bird Race has survived till today.     2002 saw a record 62 participants from a total of 17 teams from both the Advanced and Novice categories. A total of 195 species were recorded during the race – about 55% of the total bird species found in Singapore!     Now is YOUR chance to be part of this important event! Start forming your team of 3 or 4 and enrol in either the 24-hour "Advanced" (for the "old birds"– our seasoned birders) or the 19-hour "Novice" (for the "not-so-old birds" – our newer and not-so-seasoned birders) categories.     You are guaranteed fun and friendly competition, the sun, moon, maybe rain, mud and sand, and of course, the birds. Among the good birds seen last year were the White-bellied Woodpecker, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Brown-backed Needletail, Buffy Fish and Spotted Wood-owls, Eurasian Curlew, Broad-billed Sandpiper, Crested and Chinese Goshawks, Siberian Blue Robin, Dark-sided Flycatcher and Grey Wagtail, to name a few.     This race, being our 20th, will hopefully see a record-breaking number of participants and teams. So, don't hesitate, be part of this much-awaited event and we guarantee you fun, enjoyment and laughter all the way!     Eligibility: Open to NSS & non-NSS members. Each team must have a minimum of three participants and not more than four.     Fees: S$40 per participant (NSS member), S$50 per participant (Non-NSS member/Special invited participants).
