Help to locate winter roosts within MPNR 米埔鳥類棲息地調查

Dear all,
Last winter (2004/05) WWF Hong Kong carried out roosting bird surveys for Collared Crow, Magpie, Waterfowl and Herons & Egrets within Mai Po Nature Reserve. This winter we will monitor the same bird species/groups again, but hope to locate roosting areas used by other birds such as Wagtails, Starlings and Bulbuls.
It would be very helpful if anyone can send me (bsmith@wwf.org.hk) information about previously known roosts that have been encountered inside Mai Po. In particular areas of reedbed or mangrove that seem favoured. Also if any visitor to the reserve observes a new roost this winter please can you send details of the location, species, date, time and estimate of the number of birds. If you have time, an annotated map showing the exact location would be extremely helpful (a map of Mai Po can be downloaded at http://www.wwf.org.hk/images/maipo/new_MP_map.jpg)
We (WWF Hong Kong) would like to build up a comprehensive picture of bird usage throughout the seasons not only to assess the importance of Mai Po for birds, but so that future management can protect important areas.

各位鳥友：
去年冬天(2004/05)世界自然(香港)基金會於米埔自然保護區內進行了白頸鴉、喜 鵲、水鴨及鷺鳥的棲息調查。今年冬天，我們亦會繼續進行這幾種鳥類的調查。另 外，我們亦希望知道鶺鴒、椋鳥及鵯等其他鳥類的棲息地所在。
故此，希望各位鳥友能幫忙提供有關鳥類以往於米埔的棲息地點記錄，例如基圍內 的蘆葦叢及紅樹林，請電郵至 bsmith@wwf.org.hk 。另外，如鳥友於今年冬天發現一些新的棲息地點，請幫忙記下詳細位置、品種、時間、地點及估計的雀鳥數目。如有時間，希望鳥友能於地圖上標示該地點(米埔地圖可於這裡下載http://www.wwf.org.hk/images/maipo/new_MP_map.jpg )。
世界自然(香港)基金會希望能了解一年四季鳥類使用米埔的情況，以深入了解米埔 對於鳥類的重要性及確保未來的管理工作能保護這些重要地點。
