Bob,

Glad you like it. There was too much room on the top, so it was cropped 20% from above. The Osprey was approaching in such a great speed that I did NOT have the time to think. For this kind of grab shot, all one could do is shoot with reflex and experience; ask questions later ...

Really cool, KK!

I can't resist to take my 10D to field but having to work . I am waiting to see you more stunning digital photos.

I also want to test thoroughly the 10D AF speed against my 1V, especially the group and small birds in flight.

See you in the field later

Daniel

My EOS-10D really is just a toy for me at the moment to enter the digital rush. I'm sure I will NOT be retiring my 1v for sometime to go until techology and cost justify. On the plus side however, I really appreciate the ability of changing the ISO settings to suit the lighting condition at will for each and every individual frame with DSLR ...

Yes... I still need to bring two body (1 DSLR + 1 SLR, 20+lbs) for bird photography.  It is in fact the "top" SLR body still having better AI servo speed, no doubt.

I will keep my D60 and wait for next generation of 1D.

The next generation of 1D is already with us and is called EOS-1Ds!!!!   At over $55k it's hard to justify for one of this machine ...  As I said, in time we will see higher technology with less cost.

I know 1Ds, but it cannot reach 8fps (1D speed) but with higher resolution.  I think I need a camera in higher fps, rather than high resoultion, in the future.  The resolution of D60 is enough for A3 printing.  I tried some A3 printout by D60 original file and the result is good.

If 1D cost me around 20k, I will go for it for better AF and high fps.

KK,

I am really waiting for the performance of RVP 100.  I have only one body in last USA trip and changing RVP and RDP in the field is terrible. However, EOS1V is still my main camera for overseas trip in near future and 10D will be the backup. The only trouble is the weight of my backpack.........

DSLR is a computer. Let's wait for the reasonably pricing 'Flagship' DSLR for our enjoying wildlife photography.

Regards
Daniel

PS. I know that digital photos are not accepted in some wildlife photography contest yet such as BBC Wildlife Photography Competition.

Thanks for your comments Daniel and Sing!

I still think that shooting slides has its edge in terms of resolution and the almost 3-D effect image you get. With the new Fuji RVP 100 soon to be made available, I'm excited too. Just to share my own experience, I never find the need for 8 fps even for my flight shots    Maybe I was trained to use film wisely. Food for thought ...

Thanks for share again!

I seldom use "high" mode for my SLR during bird photography, however, the 3fps speed for 10D/D60 is a little bit slower.  If it can reach 5fps and it would be great enough for me!

One point I forget, is the time lag for shutter and it is not good for my D60 (0.2x second) and I need to "predict" the "trend" of the bird......

For flying bird, you can never WYSIWYG, you must "predict" it movement.

for me , I use RAW, 我發現連拍很易打滿了緩衝記憶,錯失想拍的畫面,我手指已練得很快(相對於ni kon),不開連拍,更易捉到想拍的畫面 勤練功比 system 可靠
