Just next to the river stream around the starting point of red/blue/yellow/brown roads.

I am always staying in one spot for the birds, if any, (鳥緣) for an hour or more. I did the same in TPK this time.

Near to the dam? Your photo indicates it is in a quite open area in TPK, there is not that much openess actually.  All I used to find there is spider. Anyway, will note this spot also.

Yes, the photo was taken over there at 3:00pm that day. There was a spot light to this tree and luckly the bird was standing there. He/she only allowed me to take 2 photos and then flied away. I had hurried up and the other one had shown his/her better posture. However, it is blurred because of my careless. You can wander around but I would suggest to wait for taking photos. However, those hikers or wanderers with loudly noise will probably stop them from re-visiting there.

Yes, I concurr you need a lot of luck for bush/forest birds. But if you work hard and patient, as some posts over NPN say, one day you will win your prize.

I am not sure about the spot you take this since most of the time there were either crested bulbuls and Japanese white eyes. May be I have not "pushed" my luck any furuther.

Humm, I learnt about two "target-rich areas" (a submariner term)along red/blue paths. (see my post about that little reward over ID Forum) Actually, that day, I lost quite many opportunites when I was busily shooting a gaintic damsfly! (so much for a "nature" photographer!)

Some fellow HKBWS members tell me that it is the best to go there on Sat mornings or weekdays (but I am glad I have to work in the latter peroid) Also, I think rainy days may also help to cut down the "noise" too.

Lastly, isn't birding season over in TPK? -- Oh, I guess not.

See ya around.

Hi Griffin,

Can you possibly tell us exactly where are those two "target-rich areas"?   I am new to birding and photography, and have tried quite hard over the last few months. But I got very frustrated every time I went to TPK. Have tried walking most of the tracks at different hours. Also tried waiting at some more open areas for hours. But not much luck. I must admit that I can see more birds in urban parks then in TPK - very frustrating   Help from anyone is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Angus

As I said I am not master, either.  I cannot describe exactly where but I just know. Sorry.

I think one other sweet spot is the nature study near to the park keeper's house.

If the weather is fine and the season is right, you will find a lot of other BWS member there, keep looking for people with binoculars.

See ya!
