虒鳥 與 鵜

「鵜」半似弟，但鵜鶘並不細！
「虒鳥」中像虎，但鷿虒鳥也不巨！
翻看中學時買的中華新字典，
「鵜」讀音是[啼]，「虒鳥」是[題]；
「虒鳥」的簡體字是「鵜」。
但根據最新版朗文字典，
「鵜」讀音是[提]，「虒鳥」是[梯]。
雖然兩字音似，但應不能相代！

I run in a little grebe nest with an egg inside on last sunday.
我上星期天看到有顆蛋在一個小辟鳥虒鳥巢中。
There was no egg in the nest a few days before! Probably a new egg.
幾日前路過還有看見蛋，可能新近下的。
Relax! I only approached the nest when the parents and chicks are feeding far way. I took a few shots and left immediately.
放心！我待親鳥和幼鳥到遠處覓食是才走近，拍完立即離開。
A question for the experts. I observed 3 pairs of little grebe parents, each pair were leading and feeding 4-6 chicks on 8/31 and 9/1. When I checked back on 9/5, I found that each parent was only feeding one chick (4 parent little grebes were observed). So, where are the other chicks? All dead or they take turn to be fed?
有一個問題要請教一下，在8/31和1/9 我觀察到3 對小辟鳥虒鳥親鳥，每對都帶著4-5 隻幼鳥覓食。 但在9/5，變成每隻親鳥帶一隻幼鳥(共有四隻親鳥)。其它的幼鳥是死了還是他們 輪流 餵飼 ?

Dominic,
After staying there for hours on 05/09/2004, I think each parent was feeding 1-2 little grebes in turns.
