I can add there is a nest near the bird.  The bird can seen on the top left corner, and the nest on bottom right.  Both are circled red.

Thanks to "kwok Jai" for finding the Malayan Night Herons.  It was fun sharing the experience at the weekend but we need to be careful not to disturb them too much!

Agree with John. I'd like to repeat what I wrote on 'birding tips' forum:

"However, just a word of caution. It is probably best NOT to enter the woodland itself, as it disturbs both adults and juvenile. They are forced out of the woodland but, as you will see, there is no alternative habitat for them to fly to. They are then forced to perch on adjacent wires. This is probably quite stressful for the birds. And as the juvenile is not fully independent, we don't want to cause the adults to desert it. "

The juvenile can be photographed well from outside the woodland. It might take a little more time, but it's certainly possible.

Regards,

The photo sharing has certainly been very instrumental for us who won't have the luck to watch this wonderful bird live. Thank you for all the photo contributors!
