The discussion on Wednesday's talk have mentioned that it is often better to leave more space in the direction where the object's eye were looking. But there was no guideline on how much empty space to leave behind. To me, I normally use the guideline that the bird should not be bigger than 2/3 (or 3/4) of the width or the length. On the above two criteria, the birds looked too big on this photo. I believe it also relates to the size of the print. For a small print, less space on the side is more acceptable. HF Cheung

A wonderful close up portrait of this Terek S'piper, Daniel! Perhaps a little over sharpened and a bit tight ... More room at the bottom for the virtual feet if you have. Love those rain drops flying around too! KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001
