14/11/2004 Mai Po Nature Reserve Taking close-up photos such a small bird even with a supertele coupled with TC is not easy. This great tit was just around 7-8m (as indicated from my lens) away from me but I still have to crop to make it more presentable. 10D+500/4+1.4XII ISO400, Evaluative @ f8

Beautiful pose, background and crop, Felix! You over exposed by at least 2/3 stop; see the white was blown. Wished for a natural perch as well ... KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001

Felix, Love the sharpness and background color. Same to KK, wish for natural perch and correct exposure of the white.

| KK, It was so bad that I forgot to reset the compensation and I have tried correct the exposure within C1 but not significant (probably due to my poor skill) Felix

| As a former 10D & 20D owner, please be reminded to underexpose with incident light metering for white subject.

Will an extension tube help here?

Dominic, Up to my knowledge, an extension tube may not help if TTL metering by the camera is used. And EF500/4IS allows focus up to 4.5m. Don't know if there is any remedy for such a over-exposed photo Re-post another shoot after correction in C1+PS for comment Felix
