Nice shot with good gesture! You are very greedy to use iso800 & f11 with EF2X

Thanks Daniel! I don't think I have a choice!

My camera + lens combination doesn't work well with the 1.4x converter. In order to extend beyond 600mm, I have to add the 2x. And I have to stop down 1 stop to get consistently acceptable results. To obtain reasonable results with flight shots, I need at least 1/1000s. Then I am forced to use iso800 when the sun is not at its full strength! Envy you and kk you can get good results with your 1.4x, my 1.4x converter is now only useful for stacking.

Nice shots from you as usual!! May I ask why the 2x will perform better than the 1.4x on your 600??

I'm not sure myself. I only know that when I use my EF600+1.4x+1D2 combination, most of my images were not sharp. Some testings indicated that there are some back focusing. But focusing is dead on without converters; reasonably ok with the 2x.

kk, thanks for the heads up again!
It seems that my latest sharpening routine was a bit too conservative. I have boosted the level accordingly. Hope this is better. Below is my updated version:
