This bird would have been ringed and leg-flagged at Shek Ngau Chau in one of the previous three summers. It was almost certainly ringed as a chick, although several adults have also been flagged. Sightings such as this are very interesting as they illustrate a degree of site fidelity. The recent sighting of a Roseate Tern in Hong that had been flagged during the northern winter near the Great Barrier Reef in N Australia indicates the potential value of such flagging activities.
