The most amazing part of this report is that nearly 240,000 people in Guangdong (or perhaps China??) were infected with rabies in the first nine months of this year alone! If correct (and this seems unlikely to me), it seems like we should be worrying about that a lot more than flu! Geoff

I agree Geoff, 240,000 cases of Rabies in Guangdong is incredibile. This figure is quoted by several news agencies. If they can vaccinate 5.2 billion chickens they can surely vacinate all the dogs

Perhaps, they got bitten while catching and handling animals like palm civets, pangolins and dogs for the many "connoisseurs" who for some incomprehensible reasons like to feast on these things.

| Yes, and especially rabies carry a death rate of 100.0% if not treated, while bird flu has a mortality of around 40% in the limited cases of SE Asia, as far as I know.
