This is the Black-winged Cuckoo Shrike. You make a good description already. You could also make guess on Large Cuckoo Shrike. Why didn't you think about the commoner and similar species?

Also, it is not your 'fault' too. The picture of this species in 'Birds of Hong Kong and South China' is not good.
