Title: Scaly-breasted Munia 斑文鳥 Post by birdy on Jan 14th, 2003, 11:05pm Hi all! I saw a group of small birds in Shing Mun Reservoir on 1 Jan 2003 (So sorry the quality of the picture is poor!). They were brown in colour with grey legs. I guess they may be flycatcher or sparrow. Can anyone tell me what are they? Thx! http://lally_ng.tripod.com/01010010.JPG http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/birdy/birdysmunia.jpg |

Title: Re: flycatcher or sparrow? Post by birdy on Jan 15th, 2003, 11:38pm Thanks a lot PK! I believe you are right. Those I saw are infant birds and as the book said, they don't fear people and are in group. :) |

Title: Re: flycatcher or sparrow? Post by Mike_Kilburn on Jan 18th, 2003, 9:42am the first picture shows a juvenile bird and the second one an adult.. This is a very good time of year to see Spotted Munia in areas with seeding grass. Good sites include Long Valley and Lam Tsuen Valley. Mike |
