Title: Dunlin in May or just a Curlew sandpiper? Post by Koel_Ko on May 25th, 2003, 6:32pm Dear All, Below is a lone bird found at the 16/17 pond of Maipo on 25 May. Its overall size was about 18-24 cm, and was drab wader-brown on the upperparts, white on the under. There were no distinctive features except that the nape region was dappled with black, and around the eyes was a white region (spectacle). The bill is all dark and slightly decurved at the tip. Legs were quite short, and was always probing the soil. Please help us identify this bird. http://www.geocities.com/thekoelfantasy/Dunlin.JPG http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/koelkodulin01.jpg http://www.geocities.com/thekoelfantasy/Dunlin2.JPG http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/koelkodulin02.jpg http://www.geocities.com/thekoelfantasy/Dunlin3.JPG http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/koelkodulin03.jpg http://www.geocities.com/thekoelfantasy/Dunlin4.JPG http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/koelkodulin04.jpg |
