Title: Re: Male chestnut-bellied Rock-thrush ? Post by Mike_Kilburn on Dec 17th, 2003, 8:00am Hi Hendrix This is a male the chestnut-bellied race (scientific name philippensis) of Blue Rock Thrush. You can tell because the colour of the upperparts is more or less the same all over. If it was Chestnut-bellied it would have a darker face and a deep blue cap. One more point - even though it is called a rock thrush Chestnut-bellied Rock Thrush loves to sit on top of tall trees near slopes. Kadoorie farm has had one for several of the last few winters - I have also seen them doing this "high perching" in Wolong in China Cheers Mike |
