Any gull expert please identify this gull for me  ...  ::)
Short dark bill, white tail, black legs etc. I'm confused!

I'm not an expert but I would like to guess that it's a gull-billed tern in non-breeding plumage.

Thanks AC!

It didn't occur to me that it was a Gull-billed Tern at first as it looks much bigger in size than I could have imagined. The other thing is the bill - it's not completely black but with an orange colored base as shown better in another shot that I have ...  ::)

The sharp wings of the bird points to a Tern. However the bill shape fits Gull-billed more as that of Caspian is longer and more smoothly 'conical'. The eye patch also fits non-breeding Gull-billed, as does the shallow forked tail.
Fabulous photo by the way!  :D
