I didn't realize this spoonbill is different during photo taking as I was concetrated on BFS A31 and A35....
So..not better shots are taken...

Yes, it is !

Different facial pattern and usually paler bill. They are    slightly taller than BFS, too.

Thats interesting... Just trying to increase my own knowledge here. Is this one below a European Spoonbill or BFSP? I always thought it is the later because its face is dark. But its bill is quite pale and I remember it did appear quite large in real size. Hope someone can enlighten me here.

I noticed that some BFSP got a yellow stripe below its eye such as shown in the image below. Does this indicate something about its gender, age or anything else? Or are all of BFSP like that? (just simply my ignorance in them?)

Both birds in your photos are BFS. The extensive black facial skin gives this away, Angus!

The paler colored bill and the yellow eye patch have something to do with their age, I believe. Like human variation of appearence of individual is norm. Just like some BFS have red eyes and other don't. Let's hear from the expert(s) on this ...  ::)

Great shots BTW!

Angus, European Spoonbill has white "face"  ;D

OH! Not all BFSs have red eyes  :o :o
I was wondering why sometimes I cannot get red eyes even the lighting is right...I am so ...ignorance...
