Title: 烏...秋...鵑 Drongo? Cuckoo? Post by Koel_Ko on Sep 3rd, 2005, 4:41pm I am inclined to think that this is a Black Drongo except for several points: 1. A Magpie once flew close and allowed a comparison. The bird was tiny! (a bit on the small side for a drongo, I'd say) 2. The bill seems a bit too thin (perhaps it's angle) 3. The wings were quite long... http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/drongo.jpg.upload http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/koel_ko/drongo2.jpg.upload Comments welcomed! Title: Re: 烏...秋...鵑 Drongo? Cuckoo? Post by Mike Kilburn on Sep 5th, 2005, 9:29am I agree that this is a Black Drongo The tail of Drongo Cuckoo should be square-tipped, while many Black Drongo are moulting at present, giving a few strange patterns at this time of year. Also there is no sign of barring on the undertail coverts. Cheers Mike K |
