Title: Red-throated Flycatcher Post by felixcat on Jan 11th, 2006, 11:56pm Undoubtfully, it is identified as RT Flycatcher here but one of replies of my post at NatureScapes.Net Forum (http://www.naturescapes.net/phpBB2/posting.php?mode=quote&p=622407) quoted below suggests further classification for your information. 07/01/06 Mai Po http://photo.iplux.com/albums/maipo_07012006_RT_Flycatcher/MJ9G1899.jpg http://photo.iplux.com/albums/maipo_07012006_RT_Flycatcher/MJ9G1912.jpg [quote author="avianaction"] This is almost certainly a Taiga Flycatcher (Ficedula albicilla) given your location. RBF & TF were previously considered western/eastern races of the same species, but have recently been split. The link below gives a little insight into the facts behind this change of status. http://www.eurobirding.com/birdingmagazines/artinfo.php?id=8365 [quote] |

Title: Re: Red-throated Flycatcher Post by Koel_Ko on Jan 19th, 2006, 3:45pm The 'red-throated flycatcher' occurring in East Asia, which is the one we so love to see in HK, is now officially called Taiga Flycatcher to avoid confusion with the Western European species, now split. In HK we have not changed Red-throated Flycatcher to Taiga Flycatcher partly because there is no confusion issue here, and the name seems perfectly descriptive ^^ |
