Title: Re: Unsure warbler on Lamma? Post by miket on Feb 15th, 2006, 10:26pm It's a Japanese (aka Manchurian) Bush Warbler Cettia diphone/canturians. Note especially the chestnut forehead and crown, less distinct super than Dusky (especially in front of the eye), +general size and proportions - a bigger bird than Dusky with a longer tail, heavier bill and stronger looking legs, all typical features of the genus Cettia in comparison with Phylloscopus. I wonder if you heard it call - a churring call, very different from the 'tak' of Dusky. Mike Turnbull |

Title: Re: Unsure warbler on Lamma? Post by Neil on Feb 16th, 2006, 7:49am Mike, Thanks, this is a first for me. I did hear it call the whole time it was in the area but I'm not too familiar with the Dusky call. I'll know it next time.
