Title: Unsure Wagtail at Mai Po fish ponds? Post by Neil on Apr 12th, 2006, 8:35pm Photographed yesterday around the fish ponds. At first I thought it was a Grey Wagtail and then checking the book changed my mind to Eastern Yellow Wagtail (race tschutschensis ). Can someone confirm? Title: Re: Unsure Wagtail at Mai Po fish ponds? Post by Paul Leader on Apr 13th, 2006, 11:35am Whislt this is certainly a Yellow Wagtail, I would not like to ascribe it to subspecies. Tschtschensis (or simimilla as it used to be called in HK) is a blue-headed wagtail, and shows a very narrow supercilium. The other possibility taviana shows a broads, but yellow super, this bird fits neither! |
