This egret flew into 16/17 today. My first impression was Swinhoes but it is not the same bird as seen from the Deep Bay Hide last week that was in breeding plumage. Could it be a non-breeding Swinhoes? Neil

Hi Neil

the green legs and blue facial skin above a yellow bill all point to Swinhoe's

Certainly Swinhoe's - the green legs are just unusual at this time of year, as that's the colour they are in winter basically, while in summer they should be black, with yellow toes.
