Title: Re: Fung Lok Wai Post by Mike Kilburn on Oct 31st, 2002, 9:46am Yes it was a Eurasian Collared Dove, probably a category E bird, but occurs wild in northern China and has wandered as far south as Fujian, so there is a case to be madefor it asa wild bird. To my knowledge the Rarities committeee has yet to make a decision about previous records. Koel, Fung Lok Wai is an area of fishponds near Tin Shui Wai, but closer to Yuen Long Industrial Estate. The best way to get there is the minibus that goes from Yuen Long (the minibus station behind McDonald's) to Shing Uk Tsuen . I can't remember the number of the minibus, but you can get off where the minibus turns round and walk dwn the hill to the ponds. Also check the hills for raptors - this is a good area. Cheers Mike |
