A Slaty Legged Crake was found in Mau Ping New Village this morning. She stay on the branch for more than 3 minutes, the grey legg and the Black and White Pattern is very clear.

Could you please advice how to access Mau Ping New Village? How much time do I need for a bird watching trip there?

Mau Ping New Village is located at the Po Lo Che. You can by the minus bus from Choi Hung MTR station or take the Bus No94 to Sai Kung town terminal, and then take the green taxi go to the village. But most of the birds that I observed was from my balcony, (it has a woodland that in front of my house, my bird watching trip is usually start from my balcony in the morning, and then I will take a short walk if any special species was founded.)

There is no any route go into the woodland, but it does have some interesting route around Po Lo Che area, especially from Mau Ping New Village to Nam Shan New Village and Sha Kok Mei, you may find the Black Baza, Crested Serpent Eagle, Crested Goshawk, Red-Winged Crested Cuckoo, Broad Billed Roller, Black Winged Cuckoo Shirk, Brown Shirk, Greater Necklaced Laughing Thursh, Black Throated Laughing Thrush, Scarlet Backed Flowerpecker, etc.
