Title: Black-winged kite in Tai Po Post by koren on Aug 27th, 2003, 1:44pm I saw a black-winged kite flying over the Institute of Education in Tai Po this morning. I didn't take that much notice as I am from Australia where the equivalent species is very common. When I looked up the field guide I saw that it is a passage migrant, normally seen in spring. Is it unusual to see them at this time of year? It does seem that either autumn is coming or a few birds have been blown in to this area by the typhoon. Also this morning I saw a couple of Black Drongos (first sighting since spring), a Long-tailed Shrike (first sighting since spring), and the number of Crested Bulbuls has increased dramatically in the last week or so. Cheers, Koren |
