Title: Swinhoe's Egret at Luk Keng 鹿頸的黃嘴白鷺 Post by Captain on May 16th, 2004, 10:37pm For those who have not seen Chinese Egret A Chinese Egret was seen at Luk Keng freshwater marsh at about 8:00 am on 16 May. It fed around the open water near the Luk Keng village side. NOT the grassy area where you can see Cattle Egrets. Good luck Captain |

Title: Re: Chinese Egret at Luk Keng Post by gjcarey on May 17th, 2004, 9:53am Interesting record, Captain. Pls make sure you submit it at the end of the year for inclusion in the HKBR. As it is at such an unusual location, please also provide some details regarding why you identified it as Chinese Egret, and the habitat it was in. Many thanks, Geoff |

Title: Re: Chinese Egret at Luk Keng Post by Mike_Kilburn on May 19th, 2004, 12:32am Captain and I again saw the Swinhoe's (Chinese) Egret at Luk Keng on Tuesday afternoon. It was feeding on the rocky parts of Starling Inlet before the tide came in. Then flew onto the freshwater marsh to roost. While I was watching it a Black Baza flew over also - not bad for mid May! Cheers Mike |
