This is not a bird record but a mammal record.
An otter was seen just outside the Hide #8 in Mai Po on 01/10/2004.
As it was running very fast, only an unsharp photo of its rear part was captured. :P

I was a little more lucky to photo one near the Education Centre on 08/08/04 ;)

Hi Felix,

This should be a mongoose instead of an otter. :P
The skin of an otter is always wet and its size is much bigger than the mongoose.

This was my first time to see the otter in HK. :-[

Your photo is that of a Javan Mongoose, a lot have been seen around the Mai Po area.

I saw a javan mongoose at Fung Yuen of Tai Po recently ;D
