Title: Re: Long Valley 塱原 2006 Spring 春 Post by miket on Mar 26th, 2006, 2:25pm I had a brief look yesterday (Sat. 25th) and in addition to the birds mentioned, at least two Bluethroats were present and were showing extremely well, sitting out in the open for long periods. The area near Ying Kong looked really good, with lots of flowering brassica (cabbage family plants) and the weather conditions were really good. Rather disappointing on the actual bird front, but I'm sure there will be a lot of activity starting very soon now. Mike Turnbull |

Also a Pechora Pipit was seen in the W corner by Graham Talbt and a male Watercock was seen in a grassy field across the river near Ho Sheung Heung (ad photographed in the afternoon). Cheers Mike K |

A yellow bittern was inthe same field and a Chestnut Bittern was in the big pond in Long Valleynext to the footbridge to Ho Sheung Heung. Chinese Francolin could be heard n Crest Hill and there were at last 2 pairs of Chinese Starlings in Long Valley. Cheers Mike K |
