We would count indiviually if the number of the kite is manageable (it depends on experience). But if the number of the kite is high and/or flying fast, we need to estimate the number by grouping. We normally group it into every 5-20 birds. And then scan how many groups in a time. It is a technical estimation and experience is needed.
All are welcome to join us for the monthly count and we can share the experience and our interest in kite.
