「【明報專訊】本港上月有 3 宗日本腦炎發病個案，雀鳥作為日本腦炎病毒宿主之一，再次成為傳染病「疑兇」，但有學校鼓勵學生正面認識雀鳥世界，憑著教師去年 SARS 停課期間自製的人工雀巢，吸引以歌喉見稱的「豬屎渣」入住，並全程用相機記錄牠們由出世開眼，至長成離巢的動人情景。

「…… 如今人工巢箱試驗成功，希望可以進一步推廣給其他學校，更可在巢箱內設針孔攝錄機，拍下整個成長過程，相信更能扣人心弦。」

Despite the fact that birds are implicated in recent incidents of Japanese Encephalitis, Mr. Kong, a school teacher in Tsuen Wan, is going ahead with his nest box project. This year, 4 pairs of Magpie Robins took up residence in 3 of the 5 nest boxes he placed on a tree during the SARS outbreak last year. Photos of the nests were used in lessons on breeding birds for his students. Now that the nest boxes prove to be successful, Mr. Kong plans to introduce the scheme to other schools.
