Message from a member of the Society on suspected bird trapping at Ho Chung. Please find below extracted information sent to AFCD today for members' information.

I refer to the information provided by a member of the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society regarding the suspected bat / bird trapping happened at Ho Chung.

Please find attached relevant map showing the location at Ho Chung. On 3rd December, at around 9:00am, our member XXX found that there were about 4 sets of nets at the location. It is a place on the left hand side of the road before the village. There is a small hut on the left hand side of the road. There are some farmlands with Chrysanthemum (菊花) planted there. The nets were observed surrounding the farm except the hut.

As shown in the picture, a bat was found hanging on the net. From Mr TXXX's observation, a total 3 bats were found hanging there. Some bird feathers were also found on these nets.

I would be grateful if your department could take necessary action.

The member who reported AFCD the Ho Chung issue carried out a site visit yesterday (12 December). He found the nets are still at the same site at Ho Chung.

This time, the nets were set at the area near the river. A Crested Myna and 2 bats were found hanging on the nets.

上次向漁護署報告蠔涌有人設網捕鳥的鳥友昨日(12月12日)重返當地，發現同一地點仍然架著細網。
這次網設在河邊，裡面纏著一位八哥和兩隻蝙蝠。
