While final completion is still one year ahead, the Hong Kong Wetland Park has already drawn many wintering birds to the new marshes, including the Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Grey-headed Lapwing and Black-faced Spoonbill. 900 volunteers have been recruited for tending the habitats and for leading ecotours in adjacent Nam Sang Wai and Tsim Bei Tsui.

The Wetland Park at Tin Shui Wai would be open early next year. To protect the ecology of the area, only 4,000 would be admitted daily. The Visitor¡¦s Center features the first ¡§climate conditioning system¡¨ in Hong Kong, which would provide visitors with experience of wetlands in both cold and hot habitats.
