Related Topics Environment Sports The migrating Tasmanian Shy albatrosses were the "runners" in the Ladbrokes.com Big Bird Race. Tiny satellite transmitters had been attached to track them. But two failed to leave hatching islands and 15 died at sea, probably from poor fishing. All betting income from the race, backed by Ellen MacArthur among others, will be donated to BirdLife International"s Save the Albatross Fund.
